Kawasaki Robotics at FachPack 2019:Intelligent packaging automation

News

Neuss, 30 July 2019 – From 24 to 26 September 2019, Kawasaki Robotics will be presenting current developments and solutions for fully automated packaging processes in production at FachPack in Nuremberg (Hall 3, Stand 3-143). Using a completely networked system based on several Kawasaki robots, the manufacturer, together with its partners dmp Sondermaschinenbau and REA LABEL, will demonstrate how sorting, packaging, palletizing and labelling can be automated effectively and precisely.

Fully automated sorting and placement via camera detection

In the first step, Sanosan brand cream jars are fed to an assembly line: The YF002N Pick & Place robot, equipped with 2D camera recognition, precisely determines the position of the cans and places them on a conveyor belt. An RS005L high-speed robot moves the placed cans to a buffer position for further packaging.

High-speed robots handle packaging and labelling

In the second step, two RS007Ls are used: The first robot removes a folding box from a magazine, erects it and places the products in several layers. The filled carton is conveyed by a conveyor belt to the next position, where it is closed by the second RS007L and placed in a returnable box. The boxes are removed from the packaging cell by an RS020N robot and placed on a pallet in the desired format. Finally, the fully loaded pallet is labelled with the automated K-Label labeling system. The entire system is connected to the Kawasaki TREND Manager: The predictive maintenance tool provides all relevant robot data in real time, thus providing an optimal overview at all times.
