Kawasaki Robotics at the GIFA 2019:Automation Trends for Foundry Applications

Neuss, April 25th 2019 – From 25 to 29 June 2019, Kawasaki Robotics will present current developments and solutions for foundry technology at GIFA in Düsseldorf (Hall 16 Booth A10).  At the centre of the trade fair appearance will be a plasma cutting application developed jointly with Hövekenmeier for the post-processing of workpieces in the foundry. The Kawasaki Robotics BX200L, equipped with a plasma cutter from Kjellberg, will demonstrate the machining of a cast part from truck production mounted on the Kawasaki Positioner PST 180.

The right robot technology for foundry tasks

The BX200L, with a load capacity of up to 200 kg and a horizontal reach of 2597 mm, was specially developed for vehicle construction. The robust and slim design combines highest reliability and precision with maximum efficiency in spot welding, plasma cutting and many other applications. Parallel to the live application, Kawasaki Robotics partner CENIT will present a 3D simulation of the cutting process in real time. This makes it clear that the use of robots in foundry technology not only depends on the right hardware, but also on intelligent programming automation.
